Virginia Rose, nee Reiter, Smith Nadler, 96, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2022, at Addington Place in Edwardsville, IL. After managing the household and raising her children, Virginia worked at General American Life Ins. Co. for almost 20 years and was the Church Secretary at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, IL for nearly a decade. She was an avid gardener and member of the Collinsville Garden Club, loved to travel and experience new things. However, nothing compared to the joy of being with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
Born October 16, 1925, in St. Louis, MO, she is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Rose, nee Gildehaus, Reiter of St. Louis, MO; her first husband of 41 years, W. Allen Smith of Holiday Shores, IL; a daughter, Joan K. Smith of Ferguson, MO; her late husband, Joseph H. Nadler of Collinsville, IL; and two Sons-in-Law, Roger Wentz and Dennis (Ike) Haislar. Virginia is survived by her six Children, Virginia, nee Smith, Wentz of Belleville, IL, Bill (Debbie) Smith of St. Louis, MO, Jerome (Kaye) Smith of Collinsville, IL, Trisha, nee Smith, Haislar of Troy, IL, Thom (Faith) Smith of St. Albans, MO, and Peggy, nee Smith, (Chuck) Black of Collinsville, IL; two Stepdaughters, Carolyn, nee Nadler, Staroske of St. Charles. MO and Judy Nadler of Columbia, IL; eleven Grandchildren, Christopher Black, Jason (Amy) Smith, Charles (Amanda) Black, Ryan (Jenny) Haislar, Jennifer, nee Smith, (Bruce) Lewis, Heath Wentz, Sr., Tara Wentz, Erica, nee Haislar, (Andrew) Kim, Shane Wentz, Adam (Julie) Smith, and Andrew Smith; and nineteen Great-Grandchildren.
