Kahoks Play Well At Golf Regional, Sectional

Collinsville’s boys golf team competed at a loaded IHSA Regional hosted by Quiny on September 28.

The Kahoks would finish in fourth place as a team, just missing the cutoff of third place to move their entire team to the IHSA Sectional round. Their team tally was 328, just 5 strokes behind third place Alton.

Three Collinsville golfers would still punch their tickets as individuals however.

The first to do so was Eli Verning, finishing in ninth overall. To claim the top spot on Collinsville’s scorecard, he shot 78 to finish 7 strokes over.

Jack Geisen also continued his postseason run with an 81 stroke day. This tally earned him seventeenth place overall.

Landing in twenty first place, Leighton Morris was the last Kahok to advance. Morris finished the day 12 over par with 83 strokes.

Both Tyler Linton and Drew Bailey finished just one stroke away from advancing as individuals. Their almost sufficient score was 86 strokes.

Closing out the Kahoks’s day was Andrew Chi. Chi would shoot his was to fortieth overall after using 95 strokes for the course.

The following Monday, the trio of advancing Kahoks took on the O’Fallon Sectional.

Tying for thirty first overall, Verning had the best finish for Collinsville. His 12 over, 84 stroke day was within three strokes of reaching the IHSA State Finals.

Geisen also had a solid day on the course to finish in a tie for fifty ninth place. The Kahok standout took 89 strokes on the day.

The final Collinsville golfer on the scorecard was Morris. Morris found himself in eight second place after taking 96 strokes to finish the course.
