Maryville Board approves equipment upgrades for police

The Maryville Village Board on Nov. 16 approved upgrades to equipment for the Police Department. Funding for the upgrades comes primarily from the Secretary of State grant recently announced and an IPMG safety grant.
As a result of the actions taken, the Maryville Police Department will receive a Panasonic Toughbook FZ-55 laptop computer at a cost of $3,172. They will also see two new X26P tasers for the department at a cost of $1,374 Another addition will be a Stalker DSR Duel Mobile Radar Unit at a cost of $2028.
Finally, the Department will soon have 17 new Body Cameras and all the hardware and equipment to go with them. These will be purchased from Motorola at a cost of $112,709. In addition to the equipment for officers, the board approved the purchase of a new desktop computer for the police records clerk.
The Maryville Street Department will also see some upgrades in the coming year. The Board approved the purchase of a 10-foot snowplow and a 9-foot spreader for the department at a cost of $21,708. They also approved the purchase of a 9-foot auger spreader V-Box at a cost of $23,518.
Approval of an Ordinance by the Board will allow for supplements to the Village Code of Ordinances to assure that they meet with current laws and changes.
The board also approved a contract with Juneau Associates to prepare a Source Water Protection Plan for the village. This is a requirement of the Illinois Administrative Code and comes at a cost of approximately $7,500.
The Village’s administrative building flat roof will be replaced in the spring after approval of a contract with Lakeside Roofing Company. The cost will be $39,141 and will address leaks in the flat roof.
Residents are invited to meet Santa Claus at the Fire House on Dec 3. Santa will visit from 10 a.m. to noon.
There will be no Caucus Meeting of the Board on November 23. Instead, the Caucus Meeting will be held beginning at 6:30 p.m Nov. 30. The next regular meeting of the board will be 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7.
