In one of their final chances to qualify for the Illinois Top Times Indoor Championship, several Knights delivered top placements at the Edwardsville Tiger Invite. The Mar. 10 meet was held at Principia College.
Adding to an already impressive sophomore resume, Louis Yohannes delivered a championship for Triad in the underclassmen 60 meter hurdles. The standout won the finals of the event with a time of 8.78.
Fellow sophomore Owen Lightner added to the team’s catalog of high placements, clocking in at 7.34 in the freshman-sophomore 60 meter dash. His speedy time placed him in fourth place.
Tashon Crockarell secured two more fourth place finishes for the Knights, competing in the 60 meter dash and high jump. He finished with a mark of 1.90 meters in his field event and ran a time of 7.12 in his race.
Two Triad competitors took fifth place in the field events. Junior Parker Friedrich did so in the pole vault after clearing a height of 12’0” and senior Jason Randoll leapt 6.09 meters.
In the underclassmen 60 meter hurdles, Trent Harmon added another fifth place honor. The sophomore took this part courtesy of a time of 9.23 in the finals.
Two more Knights, Tristan Darby and Drew Twyman, also battled their way into fifth place. Darby sprinted the 60 meter in 7.18 and Twyman finished an eight lap 1600 meter race in 4:51.38.
A pair of Triad relays would finish in sixth place at the competitive meet.
The first of these was the 4×800 squad of Twyman, Mersinger, Metcalf and Winslow. This quartet finished in 8:57.53, making them the last team to finish inside of nine minutes.
In the underclassmen 4×200, Lightner, Hard, Naylor and Lafrance added the team’s other sixth place finish. The youthful unit clocked in at 1:41.34.
Rounding out the team’s top eight finishes was sophomore Ian Dempsey. With a best mark of 5.91 meters in the long jump, he finished in seventh place.
