Maryville recognizes police, firefighters for lifesaving efforts

Maryville Fire Chief George May, on Wednesday, March 15, awarded letters of commendation to eight Village employees for their response to an incident in February. On Feb. 10 the fire department and police department responded to an accident on Route 162. The rollover accident left a person trapped inside the vehicle.
Police officers arrived on the scene first and removed the patient from the vehicle. The fire department arrived and began life support and advanced support care resulting in a life saved.
Recognized for their actions at the meeting were: Sgt. Brandon Ponce, Officer Jared Missey, Officer Shea Eaton, Capt. Doug Dankenbring, Capt. Greg Peck, Capt. Shane Fulton, and firefighters Derek Chancy and Jordan Kolb.
In other business, the Village Board approved a water service and pre-annexation agreement for the property located at 2001 Valley View Lane in Collinsville.
A motion was approved to apply for PEP grant funds. The funds will be used for an ADA wheelchair playground swing and surrounding surface for the park.
Residents are reminded that the Village Wide Yard Sales are scheduled for April 21 and 22.
Residents are also invited to the master gardener open house on April 1. Gardeners will be doing cleanup work and preparation for Spring from 9 to 11 a.m.
The next meeting of the board will be held on Wed., April 5 at 6:30 p.m.
