The Collinsville softball girls picked up a big 5-1 win over Granite City on May 16 to close out their regular season.
A pair of errors and a two-out double got Granie on the board in the bottom of the first but Collinsville broke through with a big three spot in the top of the third.
Keagan Edwards walked on a 3-2 pitch and made it to third on Aubrey Mason’s single to left.
Lily Fuehner grounded out to short to score Edwards and put Collinsville on the board and tie the game 1-1.
With Maon on second Lexi Rafalowski walked and both runners moved up on a passed ball to put two in scoring position.
After Emma Hylton walked Bailey Demick ripped a double to left to make it 3-1 Collinsville.
The Kahoks got back into the scoring column in the fourth on a total of four pitches.
Faith Fairchild smacked a double to fight on a 2-0 count just before Marissa Thomas traded places with her thanks to another double to right field.
Edwards advanced courtesy runner Brittany Sarginson to third and Mason brought her home with a ground out to make it 5-1.
Meanwhile, Thomas was busy mowing down the Warriors lineup. After CHS grabbed their 3-1 lead in the third, the Kahok hurler set down 14 of the final 17 hitters she faced.
Offensively Fairchild led the offense with two hits while Hylton, Demick, Thomas and Mason all had hits as well.
Thomas threw a complete game in the circle, scattering three hits and giving up one unearned run. She walked one and struck out seven during her 89-pitch outing.
