COLLINSVILLE — On Nov. 10 Village Veterinary Hospital owner, Kelly Jones, DVM, along with her team, family, friends, and team members from Korte Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. were lead by Dawn Mushill, president of the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce in a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of this new, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital that was built by Korte Luitjohan Contractors, Inc.
According to information provided by the chamber, the event was held on-site at 2533 Vandalia St., located at the intersection of Rt. 159 and Interstate 55/70, and featured a ribbon cutting full of woofs and barks, treats for pets and people, a raffle for a free exam and nail trim, facility tours, and tons of beautiful decorations.
“It is actually a dream come true, I designed the whole thing, it is my brainchild and I love it,” Jones said, “It has been a dream of mine to do this since I was a kid.”
The project to develop Village Veterinary Hospital was managed by Berard Gallant at Korte Luitjohan Contractors, Inc. and was completed at the end of October 2023. “The project was truly a family affair in that Kelly worked alongside her dad, Ken Poos, and husband, John Jones, through countless hours of decisions, planning, and designing to make Kelly’s vision a reality,” The release states.
Village Veterinary Hospital was designed to provide complete transparency in all aspects of each pet’s visit as well as to provide excellent care in a setting focusing on comfortable visits for all pets and owners. Jones gave an example by discussing a recent visit for a dog that had an ear infection.
“I showed the owners of that dog exactly what I saw. We try to involve them in every single step. If there is something that is unique to their visit they get to be a part of all of it. We do everything we can in the room and if we can’t for some reason then the owners get to see what is going on with their pet no matter where they are in the hospital,” Jones said. “I think that is one of the things that makes our hospital unique too is that everyone here is working towards making sure the owner gets to see and be a part of everything whereas a lot of places that is not the case… But here if they can’t be with them they still see them. So there is never a time when their eyes are not on their pet, except for a surgery drop off or something like that.”
