GLEN CARBON — Four people including two juveniles have been taken into custody after the Glen Carbon Police Department and other law enforcement agencies responded to a report of a robbery at a Best Buy that occurred Thursday night as reported by the department Friday morning.

According to a Glen Carbon Police Department news release, at about 9:05 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, Glen Carbon Police responded to an armed robbery reported by 911 phone call from Best Buy 6670 Edwardsville Crossing Drive in Glen Carbon. While enroute, Glen Carbon police officers learned the suspects fled the scene of the robbery in a silver passenger vehicle after one of them had brandished a firearm at Best Buy employees.

Glen Carbon patrol officers and a Glen Carbon K9 unit located the suspect vehicle and pursued the suspects west-bound on Highway 270. Troopers from ISP and officers from Edwardsville PD, Pontoon Beach PD and Granite City PD assisted as the suspect vehicle became disabled by tire deflation on Highway 270 just prior to the Chain of Rocks Bridge, and the robbery suspects fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit and a successful track by Glen Carbon’s K9, Glen Carbon officers arrested all four robbery suspects, two of whom were juveniles, without injury. Additionally, they recovered key evidentiary items at or near the scene, including a fully loaded firearm, the release states.

As a result of an extensive overnight follow-up investigation, the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office today charged the following suspects:

Angel Deshaun Crosby, 22 of Berkeley, Missouri, has been charged with Class X Armed Robbery and Class 4 Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer.

Jakiaya T. McCoy, 20, of St. Louis has been charged with Class X Armed Robbery.

The Honorable Judge Ronald R. Slemer reviewed the facts of this case and remanded Crosby and McCoy to jail for an initial appearance.

The investigation into the involvement of the remaining suspects is on-going. Glen Carbon PD Investigators have credible reason to believe the suspects in this armed robbery have been involved in numerous crimes committed throughout the Metro East in the last several months. Anyone with information about this investigation or any other investigations involving these suspects is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jeff Blind at (618) 288-2776.
