Collinsville man charged with attempted murder of his wife

COLLINSVILLE — The Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a Collinsville man with attempted murder.
Robert L. Doll, 64, of Collinsville, on Dec. 18, has been charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated battery. The alleged victim was his wife.
According to a press release from the Collinsville Police Department, at 7:40 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, police officers were dispatched to 1042 Lafayette Court, apartment D. Upon arriving on the scene, officers discovered the victim, a woman covered in blood crying for help, suggesting that she had been stabbed.
The victim reported to police that she was stabbed by Doll multiple times and also she also believed she had been shot in the head. Officers were able to move her to an awaiting ambulance where she was transported to a regional hospital for treatment of her injuries. The victim also mentioned that Doll may still be inside the apartment complex.
With help from neighboring agencies, officers were able to ascertain and maintain a perimeter around the apartment building. They held their position for a couple of hours only to find out that the Doll had left the premises.
A search warrant was issued for his arrest and on Dec. 17 Collinsville Police were notified that Doll was taken into custody in Maryland Heights, Missouri for crimes related to this case.
According to official documents, Judge Ronald Slemer signed the warrant and remanded Doll to the Madison County Jail for initial appearance.
Per reports, the victim in this case is expected to make a full recovery.
