Maryville Board Approves Agreement for Police Officer Contracts
By Kathy Turner
MARYVILLE — The Maryville Village Board on Wednesday, March 20, authorized Mayor Short to sign the 2024 to 2028 contract for the Village police officers.
The contract included language updating the paid leave policies to align with state requirements. It also included pay raises totaling 20% over the next four years with 7% the first year, 4% in years two and three and 5% in year four.
The Board also approved several ordinances presented by the village attorney. Included was a water service and pre-annexation agreement for the properties located at 2210 Bunkum Place in Glen Carbon, 6000 Twin Acres Drive in Collinsville, and 3 Knoll Drive in Collinsville.
Also approved was an ordinance declaring police department radio equipment as surplus property and giving the authority to destroy recordings of closed meetings no longer required.
The Board declined to approve an ordinance for a variance of Village Code Section 52.018. The ordinance outlined a request by residents to allow the property located at 103 Bauer Lane to decline the village sewer services and remain on septic system. Though the vote was moved for approval, there was not a second, so the motion failed.
The Board accepted a letter of resignation from firefighter/paramedic Doug Drobish. Drobish has served the department for 31 years.
Four laborers were hired for the Village public works. The Board approved the following hirings: Jacob Ley for the street department and Zachary Linenfelser, George May and Tyler Steward for the water and sewer department.
The Board also approved payments to two vendors which indicate the end of two projects. Groundworks Contracting Inc received the final two payments for the parallel interceptor tree removal project. DMS Contracting Inc. received the final two payments for the Schiber Court Drainage Improvement project.
The Maryville Village Wide Yard Sales will be held on April 26 and 27 of this year. Residents are urged to begin preparing for the sales. Registration for individuals on the chamber website will be available soon so residents can have their address listed in the sale promotions.
The next meeting of the Village board will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at 6:30 p.m.
