Kahok baseball sweeps Flyers

COLLINSVILLE — One day, two games, two wins.
That’s the week the Collinsville High School baseball team had as they swept a doubleheader against SWC foe East St. Louis on April 24 at Fletcher Field.
The wins raised the CHS record to 11-12 overall and 3-3 in the SWC.
In the opener, Collinsville took a 13-1 victory in five innings thanks in part to the Kahoks having enough patience to draw 14 walks.
Collinsville added five hits to the ledger as well.
Adam Bovinett went 2-for-3 with an HR and two RBI while Carter Harrington went 2-for-2 with three RBI. Amari Berry added an RBI.
Among Collinsville’s walk total, Kris Alcorn, Ethan Bagwell, Carson Parrill, Blaine Martinez and Jace Madura all had two walks each.
Alcorn, Berry, Cole McClusky, Keaton Call and Luke Robinson all pitched for CHS.
In the nightcap, CHS had a big four-run inning in the bottom of the first then tacked on 14 runs in the bottom of the second to go up 18-0. The game ended after the top of the third inning.
Madura, Martinez and Mason Hartman combined for a no-hitter striking out eight of the 10 Flyer hitters and hitting one batter.
Bryce Lemp and Darren Pennell both went 2-for-2 with three runs scored. Pennell had a double, triple and two RBI while Lemp had three RBI.
Robinson, Bovinett, Braden Henson, Matt Reynolds, Cameron Krausz and Devin Walker all had a hit with an RBI. Martinez also added an RBI.
Collinsville drew 10 walks in this contest.
Upcoming Schedule
Collinsville played at Alton on Tuesday and hosted Freeburg yesterday however results were unavailable at press time. They host Alton today before traveling to Nashville on Monday.
They return to SWC play at O’Fallon on Tuesday.
