COLLINSVILLE — The end of a holiday tradition has crashed upon the City of Collinsville.

After 30 years of bringing holiday joy and community assistance Collinsville has announced the retirement of the Festival of Trees.

From the early beginnings the Festival of Trees has been a staple in the Collinsville community and an integral part to the City’s holiday festivities. The event has  spread happiness throughout the community while supporting vital community projects through non-profit fundraising efforts.

The Festival of Trees has been influential in supporting various non-profit organizations in raising funds for projects aimed at enhancing the quality of life in our community. Over the years, it has become a tradition, marking the beginning of the holiday season and fostering a sense of unity among Collinsville’s residents.

“The decision to retire the Festival of Trees was not made lightly. Increased costs, goods, and services, coupled with decreased event proceeds, have posed significant challenges for the planning committee,” said Gateway Convention Center General Manager Jamie Lane

“Despite tireless efforts to adapt and overcome these obstacles, it has become increasingly difficult to sustain the event at the level of excellence that Collinsville residents have come to expect.”

Even though the Festival of Trees is no more, the City of Collinsville remains committed to fostering community spirit and supporting worthy causes.

In light of this decision, the City will be exploring opportunities to establish new community fundraising events in the future. These events will aim to capture the essence of the Festival of Trees while adapting to the evolving needs and preferences of our community.

City Manager Derek Jackson expressed appreciation to all those who have contributed to the success of the Festival of Trees over the years.

“The Festival of Trees has been a cherished tradition that has brought joy to countless individuals and families in Collinsville. We are immensely grateful to the planning committee, volunteers, sponsors, and attendees who have supported this event and made it a cornerstone of our community for three decades,” Jackson said.

“While we bid farewell to the Festival of Trees, we look forward to embarking on new ventures that will continue to bring our community together and support important causes.”

Although the Festival of Trees may be coming to an end, its legacy of community spirit and charitable giving will endure in the hearts of all who have been touched by its magic. As Collinsville prepares to embark on a new chapter, we invite residents and supporters to join us in celebrating the memories and accomplishments of the Festival of Trees and in looking forward to the bright future that lies ahead.
