Family Fun Abounds in Maryville This Summer
by Kathy Turner
MARYVILLE — There will be no shortage of family fun events in Maryville this summer. Events kick off in June with Movies in the Park, continue in July with movies and the Fireman’s Homecoming and wrap up in August and September with the Concerts in the Park schedule.
Movies in the Park
The Movies in the Park schedule is geared towards young children. It begins with “Barbie” on Saturday, June 15. Following up are “Willy Wonka” on July 20 and “Meg 2” on July 27. All events are free. Movies begin at dusk. Movie-goers can bring their blankets and/or lawn chairs to Droste Park, pick a spot and enjoy the movies in the outdoor setting. Refreshments are available.
Maryville Fireman’s Homecoming
The Maryville Fireman’s Homecoming is slated for July 12 and 13. There will be a parade both nights, starting at 7 p.m. on Friday and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Carnival rides, concessions, games, and food will be available both evenings.
Concerts in the Park
Fireman’s Park will be the site for concerts beginning in August. The first will be Trilogy Band on August 3. Dueling Pianos, always a crowd favorite, will take the stage on August 17. September will bring the Troy Community Band on the 14th and the Friends of Bluegrass on the 22nd.
Concerts begin at 7 p.m. on the Saturday nights and 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
