St. Jacob Water Tower Repairs Set to Begin June 10

by Stephanie Malench

ST. JACOB — St. Jacob held its first meeting for the month on June 5. There were no ordinances passed and the only report was by public works supervisor Nick Timmons. Water tower repairs are set to begin on Monday, June 10 with draining of the tower. Timmons said the fire department has been notified that there will be no reserve water during that time. Repairs are expected to last two days.

Paperwork has been sent to IDOT and the EPA for permits to replace a water main on Marine Road.

Timmons is still waiting to hear back from CSX about who is responsible for repairing the pavement and repainting the stripes on Douglas Street on the south side of the railroad tracks now that they have been repaired. CSX has informed Timmons that another company is responsible for coming to pick up the damaged railroad ties that have been alongside the tracks since the repairs were made.

The next meeting is scheduled for June 19 at 6:30 pm at Village Hall.
