Triad girls golfers keeps action rolling

TROY — Triad’s girls golf team has their season well underway.

The Lady Knights most recent action came on Sept. 19 at the Belleville East Invite. Yorktown Golf Course hosted the event.

Triad finished in sixth-place out of a twelve team field. The Lady Knights tallied 274 strokes, leaving them just two behind tying Columbia and Alton for fourth-place.

Alexa Shreve led the Lady Knight scorecard with a 59 stroke day. Her performance placed her in seventh-place out of sixty-nine golfers.

Finishing with a fourteenth-place and 65 stroke day, Addison Mallette turned in the team’s second best finish. The junior also recorded a hole in one on the tenth hole of the course.

Maddie Muentnich rounded out the top-thirty of the field. The senior completed the course in 73 strokes.

Triad’s scoring finishes were rounded out by Kylie Miller and her 77 shot day. Her tally put her in fortieth-place overall.

With a 78 shot day, Avery Nonn turned in the team’s fifth-best score to finish in forty-second place. McKenna Askew finished one stroke and three places behind her.

The previous day, Triad hosted Columbia at Oak Brook. The match served as senior night for Shreve and Muentnich.

At the night’s end, the two teams found themselves tied at 180 in team scores. On a fifth-score tiebreaker, Columbia won the match.

Shreve was tied for the day’s best score with a tally of 39. Fellow senior Muentnich produced Triad’s next best score with a 45 and finished in third-place overall.

One stroke behind her, Miller turned in another strong finish for the Lady Knights. Her tally of 46 landed her in fifth-place overall.

Shooting 50 strokes across the day, Askew and Mallette rounded out the field’s top-ten. Nonn shot a 63 to close off Triad’s scorecard.
