Kahok boys sports report

COLLINSVILLE — The Collinsville High School boys soccer team picked up a huge Southwestern Conference overtime victory over conference leader Belleville West by a 3-2 count on Sept. 26 at Kahok Stadium.
TJ Carter scored an early goal in the second OT and the Kahok defense held up to pull off the upset.
CHS got goals from Juan Carlos-Doria and Chris Munoz in regulation time.
Carlos-Doria, Rodrigo Hernandez-Mendoza and Dominic Mann all had assists for the Kahoks.
Edwardsville
CHS dropped a 3-1 decision at home on Sept. 24 to rival Edwardsville. Carlos-Doria scored the goal for Collinsville with an assist from Hernandez-Mendoza.
SWC soccer standings
The Maroons started this week with a 6-1 record, with O’Fallon sitting at 5-2.
Collinsville is in third place with a 4-3 record with Edwardsville at 2-3. Both of the Tigers wins this season have been over the Kahoks.
Alton and Belleville East are in fifth and sixth place.
Kahok golf
Collinsville continued their solid season with a dual match victory over Granite City on Sept. 25 at The Legacy in Granite City.
Eli Verning led CHS with a 37 while Ryker Shea fired a 38. Lucas Owen had a 40 and Drew Bailey shot a 42.
On Sept. 30, Collinsville took fourth place out of 18 total teams in the Belleville Althoff tourney at St. Clair Country Club in Belleville.
Bailey shot a 74 at the 18-hole event good for eighth place. Verning fired a 76, Shea shot an 80 while Henry Stirnaman also shot an 80.
Cross country
The Kahoks competed in the Alton Invitational on Sept. 25. They took second out of four teams.
Collinsville athletes took a fifth and sixth place finish thanks to Cooper James and his time of 18:16.59. Daniel Gutierrez-Trejo finished in 19:06.70.
Yared Benitiz-Salgado was 15th in 20:18.54 while Anton Beljanski finished in 20:28.01 good for 17th place.
Will Slazinik came in at 20:58.04 good for 19th place.
The individual winner was Hank McClaine of Alton in 17:08.09.
Alton won the team title with 31 points while CHS was second with 57. Jerseyville and Granite City were third and fourth respectively.
Football
Collinsville moved to 3-2 on the season with a 41-0 win at Granite City on Sept. 27.
The Kahoks amassed 318 total yards on offense with a season-high 177 yards passing with 141 yards rushing.
Defensively, the Collinsville defense gave up only 12 total yards. Granite had 15 yards passing for the night while totaling minus three yards rushing.
“It was a really great team bounce back win for us,” said Collinsville Colton Rhodes. “We executed pretty well in all three phases of the game as well as limited our penalties. The defense earned a shutout which is always a big deal. Offensively, we were able to get some splash plays as well as maintain some long drives for a touchdown. It was great to see concentrate on discipline and execution.”
Rome Richardson scored a pair of rushing TDs with Chase Reynolds scoring a rushing TD.
Zach Priest caught a 19-yard TD pass from Reynolds and Matthew Reynolds caught a nine-yard pass from C. Reynolds.
Michael Tongay had a 60-yard interception return for a TD as well.
M. Reynolds hit six of his seven extra point attempts.
Statistically, C. Reynolds had eight rushes for 85 yards with Richardson carrying the ball nine times for 26 yards.
C. Reynolds went 13-for-17 for 166 yards and two TDs.
M. Reynolds caught eight passes for 80 yards while Loyal Patterson had four catches for 56 yards.
Tongay had seven tackles while Ja’Montae Thomas and Devin Habermehl each had six tackles.
