Triad girls golf takes 2nd in league

On Sept. 24, the six teams of the Mississippi Valley Conference met for the league championship at Belk Park.
Triad, who finished with a team tally of 372, finished in second-place as a unit. Highland won with a group score of 355 and Mascoutah rounded out the top-three at 388.
The best Lady Knight score came from the clubs of Maddie Muentnich, who fired an 89. Her score placed her in a tie for fourth-place in a field of 33 golfers.
Triad’s second best showing came from Kylie Miller, who finished with 92 strokes. Miller’s strong day landed her in sixth-place as an individual.
With an individual placement of eighth, Alexa Shreve produced the team’s third-best outing. The senior navigated the course in 95 strokes.
McKenna Askew rounded out the team’s scoring finishes with a 96 shot day that was good for ninth-place overall. All of Triad’s top-four finishes earned all-conference honors on account of top-twelve days.
Addison Mallette and Avery Nonn closed off the team’s scorecard with respective scores of 101 and 118.
Later in the week, the Lady Knights competed in Edwardsville’s Gary Bair Invite. A total of 14 teams battled it out at the Sept. 26 competition.
With a team score of 358, Triad finished in fifth-place as a unit. O’Fallon won the team championship with a sharp 320 performance.
Out of the field of 86 competitors, Miller secured the team’s best showing by finishing in tenth-place. The third-year Lady Knight cleared the course on 84 shots.
Shreve turned in the team’s next best performance with 87 strokes. The senior golfer’s score pushed her into seventeenth-place.
Five strokes behind her, Muentnich supplied Triad’s third-score. Her 92 shot day landed her in thirty-fifth position.
With another top-four outing, Askew topped off the Lady Knights’ scores with a 95 hit performance. The junior’s shooting earned her forty-third place.
Triad’s fifth-best score came via Mallette, who used 97 strokes to claim forty-eighth place.
Nonn finished the course in 104 shots and took sixty-second overall.
