Collinsville mayor elected to IML Board of Directors

During the 111th Illinois Municipal League Annual Conference at the Hyatt Regency in Chicago, at its Annual Business Meeting officers and members were elected to its Board of Directors.
Mayor Jeff Stehman, of the City of Collinsville, was among 36 municipality officials elected to serve a one-year term as vice presidents. Officers were also elected and eight IML past presidents continue to serve on the statewide association’s Board of Directors, according to a press release from the City of Collinsville.
“It is a privilege to be elected to assist in advocating for the benefit of all 1,294 Illinois municipalities,” said Stehman. “By working together, we can champion the needs of local government at the state and federal levels to bring about a brighter future for Illinois.”
Stehman is a lifelong Collinsville resident who has served the City in a variety of roles. He was elected to the position of mayor in his hometown in April 2023. Before that, Stehman served as a council member of the Collinsville City Council from 2015- 2023 and held roles of president and executive director of the Illinois Council of Code Administration. He served on the Collinsville Planning Commission from 1992 – 2007 as well. Stehman also owned and operated a business in Collinsville.
Stehman served as the Illinois Building and Zoning Supervisor for the City of O’Fallon for 20 years and he was also a reservist of the U.S. Air Force Reserves. Stehman is an active member of the Collinsville-Maryville-Caseyville Rotary Club.
The Illinois Municipal League is the statewide association representing municipalities throughout Illinois. IML has worked continuously for the benefit of all 1,294 cities, villages and towns in Illinois to provide a formal voice on matters involving common interests. The League is managed under the general direction of Chief Executive Officer Brad Cole, former Mayor of the City of Carbondale.
