Madison County Voters turn out for Nov. 5 General Election

MADISON COUNTY — The voters of Madison County and nation turned out on Tuesday as the Nov. 5 General Election was held and while there are major implications on the national level, there were also several contested races in the Times Tribune coverage area.
Unofficial Election Results
For Representative in the General Assembly 112th Representative District Incumbent Katie Stuart (D) received 54.04% of the vote (18,503 votes) beating Jay Keeven (R) who received 45.96% (15,735 votes).
For Representative in Congress 13th Congressional District Incumbent Nikki Budzinski (D) won with 51.09% of the vote (42,091 votes) beating Joshua Loyd (R), who received 48.84% of the vote (40,240 votes).
For Representative in the General Assembly 111th Representative District Incumbent Amy Elik (R) won receiving 61.58% of the vote (29,840 votes) beating Nick Raftopoulos (D), who received 38.42% of the vote (18,621 votes).
County Board
For the County Board Member County Board District 22 seat Linda Wolfe (R) received 51.37% of the vote (2,532 votes) beating Jim Trucano (D) who received 48.63% (2,397 votes).
For the County Board Member County Board District 23 seat Incumbent Paul Nicolussi (R) received 52.35% of the vote (2,563 votes) beating Carolyn ‘Carol’ Hogan-Downy (D) who received 47.65% (2,333 votes).
For the County Board Member County Board District 24 seat Fred Schulte (R) received 55.24% of the vote (3,255 votes) beating Cheryl Hagerty (D) who received 44.76%% (2,638 votes).
For the County Board Member County Board District 25 seat Chris Guy (R) received 56.94% of the vote (3,431 votes) beating Stacey Lipe (D) who received 43.06% (2,595 votes)
For the County Board Member County Board District 26 seat Jason Palmero (R) received 50.12% (2,686 votes) beating Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Day (D) who received 49.88% (2,673 votes)
Statewide Advisory Questions
“Should any candidate appearing on the Illinois ballot for federal, State, or local office be subject to civil penalties if the candidate interferes or attempts to interfere with an election worker’s official duties?”
This question received 88.67% (114,946 votes) for “Yes” versus those who voted “No” which received 11.33% (14,688 votes).
“Should the Illinois Constitution be amended to create an additional 3% tax on income greater than $1,000,000 for the purpose of dedicating funds raised to property tax relief?”
This question received 60.13% (77.601 votes) for “Yes” versus those who voted “No” which received 39.87% (51,448 votes).
“Should all medically appropriate assisted reproductive treatments, including, but not limited to, in vitro fertilization, be covered by any health insurance plan in Illinois that provides coverage for pregnancy benefits, without limitation on the number of treatments?”
This question received 65.20% (83,904 votes) for “Yes” versus those who voted “No” which received 34.80% (44,776 votes).
Propositions
Advisory Referendum — “Shall the board of Madison County correspond with the boards of other counties of Illinois, outside of Cook County, about the possibility of separating from Cook County to form a new state and to seek admission to the Union as such, subject to the approval of the people?”
This question received 56.54% (71,695 votes) for “Yes” versus those who voted “No” which received 43.46% (55,108 votes). This referendum is nonbinding.
Proposition to Issue $26,100,000 School Building Bonds — “Shall the Board of Education of Staunton Community Unit School District Number 6, Macoupin and Madison Counties, Illinois, build, alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities, including installing safety and security improvements, increasing accessibility with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance measures, renovating classrooms and other instructional areas and installing air conditioning in the District’s main gym, build and equip auxiliary gym and classroom additions to the Staunton High School Building and improve school sites, including relocating the bus parking area, and issue its bonds to the amount of $26,100,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?”
This question received 56.16% of the vote (656 votes) for “yes” versus those who voted “no” which received 43.84% (512 votes)
