by Kathy Turner

Chief Tony Manley used the regular meeting of the Maryville Village Board as a setting for his 2024 officer awards. Manley began the awards program last year to recognize officer and employee excellence throughout the year.

Officer Brendon Peterson was named the Officer of the Year. Peterson was recognized for his exemplary job as an officer and his dedication to follow through on cases. Peterson ended the year with an 81% arrest rate, the highest for the department and an example of his hard work.

Officer Alex Reese was presented with the Excellence Award. Reese had the most felony arrests for the department and recorded 1958 incidents in the year. Incidents include both officer-initiated actions and responses to calls.

Sgt. Keith Mumper received the Meritorious Conduct Award. Mumper was also advanced to the rank of sergeant during this past year.

Finally, the Dedication to Duty Award was given to Christy Lucas. Christy is the Administrative Assistant and Records Clerk for the department and handles all clerical duties for the department.
