Maryville Board Approves Purchases/Merit Pay for Fire Department

The Village of Maryville Board approved, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, purchases to benefit the fire department and the final quarter of fire call pay for firefighters in 2024. The purchases will build out sleeping facilities for the department.
Approved was a fire station locker from Store More Store at a cost of $3,812.80. In addition they approved another bed, a Built Firehouse Tough Storage L Bed, from Fire Station Furniture at a cost of $1,821.74.
The Board approved the final quarter payments to firefighters for meeting minimum required hours in both meeting attendance and training. A total of six firefighters qualified for the payouts which totaled $19,787.40. The firefighters meeting requirements were Bolla, Fulton, Hylton, Peck Rivera and Stenger.
Several other purchases were approved by the Board. They agreed to purchase a 20 feet Holiday Angel Display from Mosca Design at a cost of $8,340.50 for next holiday’s décor. The cost will be paid using the hotel/motel funds.
They also approved the purchase of Sonetics Ear Protection/Communication System Units for both the Water/Sewer Department and the Street Department. Total costs for the two departments will be $21.958.90.
Also approved was an agreement with Muni-Link to provide utility billing software and services for the Village. The software will be used village-wide for all forms of billing.
Finally, the Board approved the attendance of Matt Hoffmann and Joe Simpson at the 2025 Illinois Rural Water Association Conference. The event, to be held in Effingham, will run Feb. 18 through 20. The cost of attendance is not to exceed $2,300, including registration, hotel, travel and meals, for the two employees
Legal actions for the Board included approval of the water service and pre-annexation agreement for the property located at 128 Roger Drive. The Board also approved a TIF Redevelopment Agreement to reimburse Mid-American Pawn & Jewelry the cost to connect to the Village sewer system and close their existing septic system. The cost is not to exceed $4,600. This is through a TIF agreement originated in 2015.
Finally, the Board approved an amendment to the Alcoholic Beverages ordinance. The amendment will increase the number of Class A licenses in the Village from six to seven.
The next meeting of the Board will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 5. The caucus meeting scheduled for Jan. 22 is cancelled. There will be a caucus meeting on Jan. 29.
