Highland Speedway to kick off season in two weeks

The World Famous Highland Speedway opens another season in March and continues with events through September and one event in December.
It all kicks off on March 11 with an open practice then the first race of the year on March 15 with the Lucky 30 a celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, a 30-lap feature race with $2500 to the winner of the Super Late Model race and $1500 for Modifieds. There will also be ProMods and Factory Stocks.
Other feature races include April 19th when the 410 Winged Sprints make one of two appearances on the season.
There will be a $1500 ProMod feature on Kentucky Derby Day on May 3, while on May 17 there a $5000 to win MARS Late Model race and a $2000 to win Modifieds race.
On June 7, the Winged Sprints return as well as a $2500 to win Super Late Models race.
June 28 the DIRTcar Summer Nationals will be at Highland. The Super Late Models will have a $10,000-to-win feature with $2000 going to the Modified winner.
On July 5, the Challenge of Champions event will feature a $2500 to win Super Late Model event.
The Joshua Melton Memorial race will occur on July 19.
On August 13, the World of Outlaws Late Model series will be in Highland for the Beat the Heat 40 by Bel-O and will pay out $12,000.
Sept. 6 will see the Xtreme Outlaw Series in Highland with the annual charity event the 24 hour Laps for Leaps will occur.
On Dec. 2, there will be an open practice for the Dome.
