Collinsville girls at Jersey track meet

The Collinsville girls track & field team had their second meet of the indoor season on March 15 at the Coach Crafton Athletic Center on the camps of Principia College in Elsah.

Kwanza Henderson was the only first place winner of the day for the Kahoks.

She won the 400 meters with a time of 1:02.05 to beat second place finisher Sophie Bowers of Vandalia who finished the race in 1:04.57. Kahok Darianna Morris was eighth at 1:08.11.

She also tied for fourth place in the 60 meters. She tied Naisha Henry of Granite City with a time of 8.20 seconds. Sophia Schardan of Triad ran a time of 7.71 seconds to win.

Talesha Gilmore took seventh in the 200 with a time of 28.26 seconds with Schardan taking first at 25.44 seconds.

In the 800 meters, Kahok Natalie Heaton took seventh with a time of 2:35.55 while Brooke Ziebert of Rochester was the race winner in a time of 2:23.71.

The 60-meter hurdles saw Darianna Morris take seventh place with a time of 10.85 seconds while Mikayla Niehaus of Triad won with a 9.76.

Ellie Rhinehart was eighth in the shot put with a mark of 9.98 meters or 32’ 9”. Hannah Gibson of Carlinville won with a mark of 11.42 meters or 37’ 5 ¾”.

In the long jump, Henderson took eighth place with a jump of 4.56 meters or 14’ 11 ½” with Morris right behind jumping 4.47 meters of 14’ 8” for night place. Shameria Joshua-Ayers of Murphysboro jumped 5.03 meters or 16’ 6”.

Collinsville’s 4x 800 meter relay team earned third place with a time of 11:01.33. The Kahok team consisted of Heaton, Danielle Cary, Claire Garkie and Catalina Jimenez. Anna-Jonesboro won the relay with a time of 10:12.85.

The 4x 200 meter Kahoks took sixth place with a time of 1:54.81 thanks to the efforts of Gilmore, Tafira Ferguson, Gabriella Askew and Deairrica Tillman. Triad won the race with a time of 1:51.33.

Upcoming Schedule

Collinsville’s next meet will be the beginning of the outdoor season on March 26 at Granite City.
