St. Jacob to celebrate first Fall Festival Sept. 27

By Stephanie Malench • On Sept. 27, the Village of St. Jacob will celebrate three major events at the Storybook Chapel, 407 Jacob Street at its first Fall Festival. In addition to the date being the first anniversary of the Storybook Chapel in the former United Methodist Church built in 1898, the event is serving as a fundraiser for the St. Jacob Lions Club, which celebrates its 60th Anniversary on Sept. 24 and Camp Lions. The Village of St. Jacob is also celebrating its 150th Anniversary.

The event begins at 9 a.m., stretching three blocks of Jacob St. with 64 vendors, including five food trucks, local businesses with give aways, independent artisans and adoptable pets from Gateway Pet Guardians. Gateway Pet Guardians will also be collecting new or gently used towels, sheets, think blankets, household items, cat food, dog food and cat litter.

Giveaways include a free event at Storybook Chapel, a gift card from Morrison Heating, Plumbing and Electrical, a $25,000 Anderson Windows gift card and a gift card from All Things Home.

There will be entertainment throughout the day for all ages. The parking lot of St. Jacob Elementary School front parking lot will have bounce houses, face painting and balloon sculptures.

Outside Storybook Chapel will be a stage for music. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., No. 9 Coal Band will be playing a mixture of old-time music, bluegrass, country and rock. At 1:45, Sniffy Beagle will take the stage and play rock and roll until 5 p.m..

At 5:30 p.m., the chapel will open of for a quarter auction benefitting the St. Jacob Lions. Bidding starts at 6 p.m.

Beer will be available from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with $1 from each drink will go to Camp Lions which provides free summer camps for vision and hearing-impaired children and teens.

Parking for the event is on surrounding streets and behind St. Jacob Elementary School.
