St. Jacob trustee resigns at Sept. 17 meeting
By Bruce Darnell
Nathan Schmidt, St. Jacob’s trustee of community health and development, resigned during the village hall meeting on Sept. 17. Two days prior, Village Clerk Kathy Becker said he texted her and asked if she could put his resignation on the agenda.
Becker said Schmidt did not give a reason for his resignation though his letter of resignation was read during the meeting. Despite multiple attempts, Schmidt could not be reached for comment prior to publication.
Becker said Schmidt had just finished plans with the village’s homecoming and his next project was working on suggestions for Christmas in the Village.
Schmidt is the second village trustee to step down in the past few months. Guideon Richeson left the board this summer after he was indicted by the state for tax fraud. His trial has been continued until Jan. 5, 2026.
