Highland Health Care Center, Evangelical United Church of Christ offer “Trunk or Treat” Party Oct. 25

Annual Halloween Celebration Offers Fun for Families, Kids

HIGHLAND – The community is invited to join Highland Health Care Center and Highland’s Evangelical United Church of Christ for their annual “Trunk-or-Treat” celebration. The free event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the parking lot of the skilled nursing facility at 1450 26th St., in Highland. Attendees are also welcome to stop across the street at 2520 Poplar St., and see what the church has to offer.

The Halloween-themed activities will feature decorated car trunks where Highland Health Care staff, many in costume, will hand out candy for the trick-or-treaters. In addition, free cider and popcorn will be available for the visiting children and their families.

Kids and their families are encouraged to join in the fun of coming in costume while enjoying an event filled with Halloween spirit. The haunted happening will include an attendance prize and “guess how many” games. In addition, a colorful bounce house will be featured, offering fun and excitement for kids of all ages.

“We enjoy celebrating the fall season with our residents and families in the community,” said Debbie Reed, CEO/Administrator of Highland Health Care Center. “This annual event combines Halloween fun and community spirit, making it a special tradition for everyone. Each year, we look forward to welcoming local families and creating lasting memories.”

Everyone is encouraged to bring a bag, pillow case, or pumpkin basket to collect treats. “Our staff looks forward to welcoming community members while decked out in their favorite costumes,” said Reed. “This event is part of our year-round tradition of community engagement. From a holiday light display in December to visits with the Easter Bunny in spring, along with clothing drives, school supply collections, and other activities, we’re proud to offer opportunities that bring families together and strengthen community connections.”

Staff members will park their decorated cars in the Highland Health Care Center lot where kids can collect sweet treats in a safe, well-lit setting. There will be multiple candy givers, and the skilled nursing facility will provide the treats and snacks for free.

“It’s an additional opportunity for trick-or-treating, allowing kids to enjoy Halloween longer,” said Reed. “It’s also a great way to show off costumes, and every year we see very creative ideas.”
