Troy residents invited to track St. Nick during his Santa Run Dec. 18
By Tribune Staff • TROY — Sleigh bells, or rather a fire engine, will be heard throughout the Troy area as the Troy Fire Protection District plans to once again escort Santa and bring some Christmas cheer with its annual Santa Run.
According to information provided, Santa’s visit will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 18 leaving the Troy Fire Protection District at 116 W. Clay Street and going onto O’Hara Drive. This year’s Santa route has been adjusted and people are encouraged to follow the Troy Fire Protection District Facebook page to view it. A live Santa tracker is also planned and the TFPD will broadcast Santa’s and the Grinch’s locations during the run.
“It is something that we enjoy doing and we look forward to it all year,” said Troy firefighter J.J. Busch. “The response we get from the public is great. It is fun just to see the public’s reaction to it.”
The Troy Fire Protection District encourages people who live on cul-de-sacs to move vehicles into driveways so there is room for the firetruck to turn around. A live feed of the event featuring Santa, the Grinch and other holiday hijinks as well as a more detailed route map will be available on the fire district’s Facebook page. Troy Fire officials suggest that people who are not on the route visit the library or the park-and-ride lot.
