The Collinsville High School Class of 1955 held its 70th reunion on Oct. 4 at the Sunset Hill Country Club. Twenty-six classmates attended, with some traveling from as far as Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee and Virginia to join the celebration. It was a warm and lively gathering filled with memories, laughter and stories from decades past.
Class President Gant Redmon took the microphone to welcome everyone, as canes and walkers proliferated throughout the room—a sign not of frailty but of longevity and determination to reconnect once more. Classmate Lois Welch Metzger perhaps captured the sentiment of the evening best when she reflected afterward: “Some very special people were present. I wish I could have table-hopped better…I just ran out of time!” Old friendships were renewed and the bonds formed seven decades ago at Collinsville High remain strong today.
