Illinois Press Association’s Kline promoted to vice president

By Tribune StaffThe board of the Illinois Press Association (IPA) is proud to announce that Ron Kline, chief technology officer and director of technology for the IPA, has been promoted to vice president of the association.

Kline has been with the IPA since November of 2010. Newspapers run deep in Kline’s blood. He started at The State Journal-Register in 1996 as a graphic artist, eventually climbing to the role of production systems specialist.

His role in the integration of newspaper contest websites and statewide public notice platforms across the country has been instrumental not only to the IPA, but to newspapers and newspaper associations nationwide.

“It would be hard to find a newspaper or association in the United States that hasn’t benefited from Ron’s expertise, insight and passion for the industry,” said Jason Hegna, IPA board chairman and vice president of advertising at Shaw Media. “He is a pivotal figure in keeping the industry up to date and up to speed across the country.”

Newly hired IPA President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Jameson joined the staff Jan. 5 and will work closely with Kline.

“Ron’s reputation precedes him, and I am looking forward to working with him as well as all of the talented members of the IPA staff,” Jameson said. “I have great confidence in the role with Ron by my side.”
