Letter to Times-Tribune readers from newspaper publisher

Dear Times-Tribune Readers,

With some recent changes in the local media, The Times-Tribune has decided to start covering local government, sports and local events in Highland. We believe that all communities deserve a quality news source and a local newspaper.

Many of you already know about and use the Shopper, located in Highland. Now, you can add the Times-Tribune. We want to be your only hometown newspaper. As the Times-Tribune office is already located in the same building, this is a perfect fit for us to provide your great community with quality journalism.

As we start this venture, we are asking the community for your help. Having a good relationship with the public is our best resource for providing quality news. We are looking for your stories, your photos, your news and voice about our community.

A little about the Times-Tribune: we’re a weekly newspaper that publishes every Thursday. The deadline for all copy is Monday at 5 p.m. For example, the next paper edition is Feb. 12 but the deadline for items to appear in it is Feb. 9 by 5 p.m.

We cover Collinsville, Maryville, Glen Carbon, Troy, St. Jacob, Marine and now Highland.

We want to be your next hometown newspaper — we plan to attend city council meetings and school board meetings; we want to feature your kids’ and grandkids’ sporting events; we want to showcase their academic prowess at Highland High; we seek to get those Madison County Fair photos. We want to be the go-to for obituaries, for legal ads, classified ads and more.

For now, what we seek are submissions, as I wrote above. Please send news items, school items and photos to [email protected] or [email protected].

Thank you,
Scott Hoskins
