Triad Track competes at Gene Armer Invitational

The Gene Armer Invitational at the University of Illinois Armory is the last indoor track competition in Illinois before the Top Time Championships take place next weekend at Illinois Wesleyan.
The Lady Knights took second place at the invite out of 28 competing teams and the boys’ team tied for 13th overall out of 34 teams with a handful of medalists.
Girls’ Results
Of the medalists for the girls’ events, Triad had five individuals and three relay teams place in the top six.
Sophia Schardan claimed second place in the 60m dash with a time of 7.71s.
Ava Gallia took third place in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.57s, a personal best for the junior.
Izzy Stein placed fourth in the 200m with a time of 26.13s.
Addie Field was one of two runners to finish under a minute in the 400m with a time of 59.97s, resetting the Triad Indoor school record set by herself earlier this year.
Emmy Goins took third in the 3200m with a two-mile time of 11:55.88s.
The 4x200m relay team of Gallia, Stein, Addison Williams and Reyna Rehg put down a time of 1:47.14s, a season best that earned them third place overall at the invite and 39th among all schools in the state.
Gallia, Field, Mady Norder and Maddie Schram placed third in the 4x400m relay with a season best time of 4:14.49s.
Abigail James, Morgan Mason, Brynn Carey and Kacey Ruger took sixth in the 4x800m relay with a season best time of 11:06.38s.
Boys’ Results
Medalists for Triad in the boys’ events consisted of two top-four placers in field events and one on the track.
Zane Meier claimed second place in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.10m (13’ 5.25”), slightly more than eight inches above the IHSA State Qualifying standards.
Mac Musgrave took fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.90m (6’ 2.75”), three-quarters of an inch above IHSA State Qualifying standards.
Silas Thompson climbed the Triad Indoor record books in the 400m with a time of 51.56s. His new personal best puts him second all-time in program history.
Coming up…
This past Tuesday was the deadline to enter athletes into the 2026 Illinois Top Times Championships at Illinois Wesleyan this weekend. A squad of Triad boys and girls are expected to compete in the two-day finale of the indoor track season.
Triad will host their first outdoor event of the season, The 2026 Distance Carnival, this Friday, consisting of long-distance events such as a 600m, 1000m, 1500m, 3000m and a 4000m DMR (Distance Medley Relay).
