Triad seniors on the girls’ soccer team had their shining moment on Thursday, May 7 when they took on the Jersey Lady Panthers in their final home match of the season. Eleven seniors and their families were honored prior to kickoff and all 11 of them had the chance to take the field together despite injuries and a few teammates playing out of their normal positions.

Prior to last Thursday’s matchup, the Lady Knights had won seven games in a row by a combined score of 34-0. Out of their 11 wins so far this season, all of them have been clean sheets, meaning the opponent was held to zero goals. Their defense has only given up four goals in regulation out of their 16 total games.

Kamryn Bohnenstiehl got the scoring started against Jersey in the fourth minute of the game. She used her head (literally) to find the back of the net off a corner kick from Erica Boyce.

London Looby netted her first goal of the game not two minutes later, a strike from about 20 yards out that proved to be the final goal of the half.

It didn’t take long for Looby to secure her second goal of the game. Less than three minutes into half number two, she buried a rebound from her initial shot that put Triad up three goals to none.

Jaden Sparks was responsible for the next goal for the Lady Knights. She teed up a shot from 10 yards out of the right goalpost and tucked the ball inside the top left corner.

Stella Yank found paydirt less than eight minutes of game time later scoring her second goal of the season. Juliette Duff fed her an assist that Yank promptly rocketed into the Panther net.

Harper Dinsmore rounded off the scoresheet for Triad when she scored a last second goal in the 77th minute from point blank range.

After securing their eighth consecutive win, Triad now looks ahead to another Thursday evening matchup against Civic Memorial on the road. Barring any unexpected results between Waterloo and Civic Memorial the Tuesday prior, a win against the Eagles on May 14 will earn Triad a share of the final Mississippi Valley Conference title, marking what would be their 25th consecutive title and 28th overall.
