By Ray Popkess

The Highland High School tennis team hosted an offseason doubles tournament at their home courts on June 27 and 28.

Players consisted of present and past high school athletes and coaches from the surrounding community. Each team cost $40 per entry, with proceeds going toward the Highland Tennis program.

In the mixed doubles tournament, Edwardsville’s Dia Kannan and Jake Brinker took home the top spot and some hardware. Greenville College Assistant Tennis Coach Ian Keillor and Greenville Tennis alumni Addi Weigand were runner-ups.

In the men’s open, Triad Tennis Coach Devan Faulkenberg and 2025 IHSA Class A Doubles State Champion Ethan Stewart were the top duo. Brinker and Occidental College Alumni and former Edwardsville Tiger Seth Lipe were the runners-up.

In the women’s open, Weigand and current tennis athlete for the Greenville Panthers Lauren Brannon claimed the trophy against Highland’s Aimee Jansen and Jillian Rottmann.
