Troy’s Plan Commission approves amendment to special use notification process

By Charles Bolinger

Editor • Acting on a suggestion from City Attorney Fred Keck, Troy officials will change the notification process when a special use issue crops up.

“When we have an annexation, pre-annexation, special-use, temporary use, variances and any amendments, we go through the notification process. We certify or send them first class,” she said Building and Zoning Director Ann Byrd explained to the commissioners.

Keck recommended that things that are not now certified become certified mail instead of being sent first-class mail.

“This is also good from a data center standpoint to prove that we notified everybody,” City Engineer Tom Cissell noted.

The commissioners approved the amendment with a 7-0 vote. This ordinance amendment will go before the full city council for a vote on July 20. The next planning commission meeting is Aug. 13 at 6:30 p.m.
