Collinsville High School graduate Leslee Gibson has been honored by Madison County Highway Department Engineer Adam Walden for her nearly 35 years of exemplary service culminating as office manager under his supervision.

Gibson, who formerly lived in Collinsville and now resides in New Douglas, was called forward by Walden at the February meeting of the Madison County Board so he could call attention to her many accomplishments as part of his act of recognition subsequent to her retirement.

Citing Gibson’s reaching an “incredible milestone,” Walden said she has been an integral part of the highway department since starting as a confidential secretary in 1990 then moving into an accountant position nine years later before more recently being promoted to office manager.

While working through various leadership teams, Gibson, Walden went on, “has play a pivotal role in keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently.”

Since taking on his current role, Walden said he has relied heavily on Gibson’s expertise concerning budgetary matters and handling expenditures, adding, “Her calm response and can-do attitude toward any problem kept me grounded.”

“Her attention to detail, financial acumen and professionalism,” Walden continued, “has assured that our department’s paperwork is organized and within policy. Her commitment to excellence has been evident in every task from managing ledgers to supporting our entire team with experience and dependability.”

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Gibson for her dedication and invaluable contributions. Her hard work and loyalty have significantly impacted our department and our ability to serve the community.”

“Leslee,” Walden concluded, “enjoy your retirement and thank you for 35 years of service. I am not the only one to say we are going to miss you.”

An appreciative round of applause from everyone present followed Walden’s statement.
