By Times Tribune Staff

TROY — Jason Zepeda Maclin, a dedicated educator at Silver Creek Elementary in the Triad School District, is excited to announce his candidacy for America’s Favorite Teacher.

According to a news release, currently leading in the group phase of the competition, Maclin has 14 years of teaching experience and has made it his mission to create a welcoming and supportive environment for his 4th-grade students, aiming to make their learning experience one they will cherish for a lifetime.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Maclin coordinates the Coding Club program for 4th and 5th graders and has spent the last decade working with the Edwardsville YMCA Summer Camp program. He began directing the program in 2020, which allowed him to extend his skills beyond the classroom, enriching his students’ lives through various life experiences.

“I have worked with so many amazing and creative young people,” said Jason. “My goal is to blend academic success with social support in a world that can be challenging for many to navigate. I want to be there for my students, campers, and counselors, as they have significantly shaped me into the teacher I am today.”

Jason invites everyone to support his journey by voting for him as America’s Favorite Teacher. “I hope to share my story with the world and make a bigger difference than I already have,” he added.
