Glen Carbon PD to host annual Thanksgiving Food Drive

By Kathy Turner • The Glen Carbon Police Department is once again collecting food items to be distributed to local families. The donations will ensure area families can enjoy a holiday feast for Thanksgiving. This is an annual project for the department.

The drive is currently underway but will really vamp up on Saturday, Nov. 15. Officers will be at the Glen Carbon Walmart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to collect donations from shoppers. Anything that would make a Thanksgiving meal complete is welcome.

Donation suggestions include: turkeys and/or hams; canned goods such as corn, green beans, cranberries, and gravy; boxed mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese and stuffing; cake mixes or dessert mixes, pie crust mix and canned pie filling; and, boxed mixes to make breads such as cornbread, rolls or biscuits.

The collection will continue through Nov. 18. Anyone unable to make it to Walmart on Nov. 15 is welcome to drop off items at the Glen Carbon Police Department, 149 S. Main St. (behind village hall) through Nov. 18.
