Troy City Council shifts gears on new dump truck

Editor • During its June 1 meeting, the city council changed gears on a dump truck bid for the public works department.
A bid approved at the May 18 city council meeting for a medium-duty Ford F-550 cab/chassis with a dump bed was changed during the public works portion of the June 1 meeting.
Councilman Dan Dawson was absent from the May meeting and someone at made a clerical error that caused the city to change trucks.
“Mount Vernon Ford won that bid at the last meeting; we recommended them,” said Derek Alldredge, the city’s new public works director, who started June 1. “They had a mishap with their numbers; they were about $2,000 over the price they gave us, so we are now recommending the Weber Ford Truck, a 2027 [model] ordered for $126,747.50.”
Mayor Nonn noted that Weber’s truck is a year newer than the truck approved last month, a 2026 F-550. Delivery will take six to nine months. The change was approved 8-0 by the council.
