TMS soccer fields first co-ed team in school history

By Ray Popkess

Triad Middle School has made school history by fielding its first ever co-ed soccer team.

Their first game came on April 9 against O’Fallon Fulton Junior High. The middle school varsity squad won 3-0 with goals from Ben Weiersmueller, Liam Handcock and Jackson Tonn. Assists were made by Maci Meier and Cooper Allison. Triad JV ended their first game in a draw against the Panthers.

The Crusaders then took on Granite City Coolidge on April 13 at Triad High School, marking the first time a middle school soccer game was played on home turf.

Triad’s Head Coach Ben Foreman had this to say about his team so far: “I couldn’t be more proud of how our players have represented Triad. Their effort, attitude and willingness to compete have made this a really fun group to coach. You never quite know what to expect in a first season, but they’ve been outstanding. We’ve also had incredible support from our administration and families, which has made a huge difference. We’re excited to keep building this program and help our students grow both on and off the field as they prepare for the next level.”
