Multiple people shot in Centralia on April 19

On April 19, 2026, at approximately 5:01 p.m., the Centralia Police Department responded to the 900 block of Kell Street in Centralia, in reference to a shooting, said Illinois State Trooper Genelle Jones.

“Centralia Police Department requested ISP Zone 8 investigations to conduct the shooting investigation,” Jones said. “A 19-year-old male was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased by the Marion County Coroner. An additional three subjects were treated and released. At this time, all information indicates that this was a targeted incident with no reason to believe the public is at risk.  The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available at this time.”
