By Kathy Turner • Dawn Mushill, CEO of the Troy/Maryville/St. Jacob/Marine Chamber of Commerce, attended the Maryville board meeting on Apr. 15. She provided an update of activities pertaining to Maryville over the past year. The chamber has 413 members currently and Mushill reported that Maryville businesses added 35 new members to the chamber since Jan. 1.

Board actions included the passage of the proclamation declaring May ALS (Armyotrophic Lateral Schlerosis) month.

The board approved the Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) allotment for the year. They appropriated $360,000 for street and alley repairs in the village.

There will be six new temporary part-time summer workers for public works this year. They will be split between the street and the water departments.

The board approved a contract with Custom Coatings, LLC to clean, repair and paint the ground storage tank for the village. The bid was for $64,700.

It was announced that the village will provide the materials to build 10 floats for the children’s parade at this year’s Fireman’s Picnic. Residents can contact village hall to check on securing materials for an entry.

The meeting closed with the swearing in of two new administrators for the village. Tammy Warner was sworn in by Mayor Wayne White as the new village clerk. Melissa Loftus was sworn in by Clerk Warner as the new village treasurer. Both positions became vacant with the retirement of Jolene Henry.

The next meeting of the board will be held on Wednesday, May 6 at 6 p.m.
