Madison County reappointments approved by board

by Randy Pierce • Lonnie Meier has been reappointed for a three-year term as a member of the board of trustees of the Troy Fire Protection District, extending his term of service in that position which began in July of 2024.

The unanimous approval of the reappointment occurred at the regular monthly meeting of the Madison County Board held on Thursday, April 15. Meier was first appointed as fire district trustee in July 2024 by County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler whose successor, Chris Slusser, announced the reappointment this month.

At the time of his initial appointment as trustee, Meier filled a position left vacant by the retirement of Fred Patterson of Troy who is currently serving as the county’s emergency management agency director. Meier’s term as trustee will run through May 15, 2029.

Another resident of Troy, Jean Schram, has been reappointed by Slusser and unanimously approved by the county board as a member of its health advisory committee. Her term expired on April 6 and the new one will run until that date in 2029.

To fill a position on the same committee left vacant by the resignation of retired pharmacist Richard Quayle of Highland, the county board has authorized the appointment of a registered nurse, Charlotte Liley of East Alton, her term to run until April 3, 2029.

Lety Murphy of Godfrey, a registered nurse, is also serving a new three-year term on the health advisory committee after being reappointed following the expiration of her existing term on April 3.

Murphy and Quayle were among the health advisory board members whose names were included on a letter written by Prenzler in 2025 and sent to President Donald Trump offering support for his appointment of Robert Kennedy as United States Secretary of Health and Human Services.
