IASA names Triad School District’s Henderson as 2026 Superintendent of Distinction

By Tribune Staff • Dr. Jason Henderson, superintendent of Triad School District, has been named the 2026 Superintendent of Distinction by his peers in the Southwestern Region of the Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA).

Henderson was honored at an awards luncheon on April 23 in Springfield, where 21 regional Superintendents of Distinction were recognized. Dr. Steven Isoye, Chair of the Illinois State Board of Education, served as the featured speaker.

“It is truly an honor to receive an award selected by my peers,” said Henderson, who has been an educator for 32 years and superintendent of Triad CUSD #2 for seven years. “I have great respect for the work being done by superintendents across our region and to be recognized by that group is especially meaningful. This recognition reflects the amazing work happening throughout Triad. I am fortunate to have an outstanding team of teachers, staff, administrators and board members who are committed to doing what is best for students every day. I’m proud to be part of a district where so many people contribute to our success and continuously strive to improve. This honor belongs to all of them.”

Those nominating Henderson noted a number of successes during his tenure including:

  • Led the successful passage of a $100 million bond initiative focused on improving facilities across the district including the construction of a new middle school without increasing the tax rate
  • Fostered a positive district culture grounded in collaboration, transparency, and strong relationships with staff and the community, while enhancing communication efforts to keep families informed and engaged
  • Guided efforts to build on Triad’s strong traditions while strengthening programs and opportunities for students, reinforcing its reputation as a destination district and a model for high-quality public education

The Southwestern Region is comprised of Jersey, Madison, St. Clair, Monroe and Randolph counties. Superintendents of Distinction were selected by peers in their region based on their commitment, dedication and leadership.

“Exceptional leadership creates opportunities for students and strengthens communities,” said IASA Executive Director Dr. Brent Clark. “At Triad, Dr. Henderson’s forward-thinking approach and dedication have transformed the district in meaningful and measurable ways.”

The 12th annual luncheon was sponsored by Stifel, the country’s leading underwriter of K-12 school bonds.

“The superintendents honored today exemplify the depth of leadership and personal commitment that exceptional superintendents bring to their districts to serve students and staff to be the best they can be,” said Anne Noble, Managing Director of Stifel. “Stifel’s longtime commitment to IASA culminates in honoring these amazing superintendents and thanking them for all they do for the students of Illinois.”
