It won’t be long before you can roll up to the newest drive-through in Maryville and have employees possibly ask, “Would you like fries with that?”

The Maryville Village Board on Wednesday, May 6 approved the preliminary development plans for the building of a McDonald’s restaurant in the village. The building will be constructed at 2016 Vadalabene Drive. Approval of the plans for consideration was initiated by the planning commission on Apr. 29. The nearest Golden Arches to Maryville are in Collinsville, Troy and Edwardsville.

The board also approved an ordinance for an intergovernmental agreement between the village and the Collinsville School District. The agreement addresses a proposed tax-increment (TIF) redevelopment Plan for Town Center on the southwest corner of the village.

Because TIF districts impact school districts in that they waive property taxes for a period of time, this ordinance will address the potential loss of revenue. Under the agreement, the village agrees to make payments to the district for both residential and non-residential developments.

There will be three forms of payment to the school district. The first will be 5% of the annual TIF increment generated for all residential property within the development. The second will be a one-time payment for each single-family home. Finally, the third form of payment will be for non-residential properties. It will be an $8,000 annual payment. This agreement is good for five years and then will be reassessed.

In other business, the board accepted resignations from several village employees. Officer Cody Sinclair of the police department will leave this month for a job with Collinsville Police. Firefighter/paramedic Kyle Crafton will leave the fire department to join the Glen Carbon Fire Protection District. Zachary Linenfelser will be leaving the water department for a position with the Troy Water Department.

With the loss of an officer to resignation, the Maryville Police Department swore in a new officer at the meeting. Caleb Reed was formerly with the Mt. Vernon Police Department. He brings experience to the department.

On a motion by Rob Schmidt, the board approved the 2026-2027 fiscal year budget. Total anticipated revenues are $14,823,080 with total budgeted expenditures at $14,479,795. Trustee Schmidt also encouraged all departments to be diligent in their spending as the village anticipates the costs to construct one and possibly two new buildings.

Non-bargaining unit staff members were given raises to start the fiscal year. All full-time staff will be receiving a 4% increase. Part-time staff will receive a $1 per hour raise.

To address an emergency need, the board approved the purchase of a new emergency warning siren from GTIs. The system located at village hall is not working and needs to be replaced immediately.

With the new fiscal year, Mayor White made appointments for the next year. All department heads were reappointed for the year. Trustee committee assignments also remain the same for the next year. And all volunteer committee appointments will remain the same.

Board members are encouraging anyone interested in building a float for the children’s parade in July to reach out. They are offering 10 carts and materials for float construction on a first-come, first-served basis. There are currently four reserved.

Board members reported that they had 39 fishermen at this year’s fishing derby at Drost Park. The winning fisherman took four fish, and the largest fish prize went to the young many who pulled in a 9 ½ blue gill.

The next meeting of the board will be held on May 20 at 6 p.m.
