Patrick Jonathan Martin
August 15, 2003 – October 23, 2022
Patrick Jonathan Martin, 19, of Fort Myers, Fla. passed away in Parker, Co. on Sunday, October 23, 2022, due to an overdose, losing his years-long battle with addiction.
On October 11, Patrick made his way to the Denver area for a fresh start after leaving addiction treatment. He was seeking employment in a fine-dining establishment and preparing to enter the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in 2023.
Patrick was born on August 15, 2003, in Maryville, Ill. He had many passions, most notably cooking, playing guitar and listening to a wide variety of music. He was a genius-smart foodie, had a clever, quick-witted sense of humor, vast vocabulary and despised the improper use of grammar. He loved furry animals, was enamored by high-performance automobiles and enjoyed scary movies and snarky TV shows. He had perfect teeth and unruly curly hair, which suited his personality perfectly.
If Patrick decided he wanted to master a skill, he would spend hours – even weeks – learning to perfect it. When he was a small child, this included armpit “farts,” headstands, rubber band bracelets, paper airplanes and making rock candy. As he got older, he learned to forge knives with his dad, dove wholeheartedly into shredding on the electric guitar and developed a true passion for cooking. He prided himself on his perfect lobster risotto, the most tender sirloin sous vide and was still working on the best chocolate lava cake.
He is survived by many friends and family, most closely his parents, Larry and Holli Martin, brother Connor Martin, sister-in-law Meghan (Lyman) Martin, nephew Jamyson Martin and another nephew or niece expected in April of next year. grandparents Bernard and Donna Martin, Maggie Kirk, Steve Berkel and Ben and Pat Mitchell; Steve & Monica Martin (uncle and aunt), Martina (Martin) & Jackson Simmons (cousins), Justin and Kree Kirk (uncle and aunt) and cousins Jackson and Kennley Kirk, Mike and Teresa Pich (uncle and aunt) and cousins Christpher, Elizabeth, Winter and Jake.
Patrick’s life will be celebrated from 10 a.m. – noon on Friday, November 4th at Aebischer-Richeson Funeral Home in St. Jacob, Ill.
