St. Louis Symphony vocalist to be featured at Troy Community Band Christmas Show

The Troy Community Band has announced its annual Christmas show will be held at 7p.m. Dec. 3 in the Triad High School Cafetorium.

Director John Malvin this year has invited Rochelle Calhoun, a soprano with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra’s IN UNISON Chorus to perform with the band. Calhoun will be performing “Lo, How A Rose E’er Blooming”, prepared especially for this show and for her by local composer Mark J. Connor, according to a community band news release.

The IN UNISON Chorus is a 120-member chorus with members from all walks of life, uniting to perform and preserve Black American musical expression. Ms. Calhoun serves as the St. Louis Symphony’s Manager for Sponsorships and Corporate Relations. She lives in St. Louis, and hails from Vienna, Virginia.

The show will include a wide range of seasonal music from medleys of traditional American Christmas favorites to animated holiday movie soundtrack selections, and Leroy Anderson favorites “A Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride.” It will also feature two young local dancers,  Emma and Kayla Rivas, as they dance to selections from “The Nutcracker.”

The show will also feature a visit by Santa Claus, so guests are invited to bring children and grandchildren
