Lady Knights take fifth at Marion Invite

A trip to Marion proved fruitful for Triad’s girls track and field last week, as the Lady Knights finished in fifth place and with a total of 51 points. Eighteen total teams competed at the Feb. 23 Joe Elliot Indoor Invite.
The team’s highest finish was third place, which they earned in three events.
Sophomore Kennedy Bowman was among Triad’s top three finishers, doing so in the 1600 meter. The underclassmen clocked in at 5:37.79.
In the pole vault, RIley Cissell tacked on another third place finish for the Lady Knights. The junior earned her placement after clearing a height of 9’0.25”.
With a time of 10:50.90, Triad’s 4×800 relay also took third overall. They were one of three squads to finish in less than 11 minutes.
In the 60 meter dash, Cissell added another scoring finish for her team with a time of 8.24. This pushed her into fourth overall.
Abigail James added on an additional fourth place finish from the 400 meter in a 1:10.32 performance. Sophomore Hannah York rounded out the team’s fourth place finish with a time of 12:49.21 in the 3200 meter.
Also finishing in the top five in her event was freshman Lyla Hoffstot. The first-year Lady Knight earned said placement with a 10.71 mark in the 60 meter hurdles.
Triad’s 4×200 unit took fifth place as well, finishing in 1:56.95.
Three different Lady Knights finished in sixth place at the indoor meet.
Senior Jaden Brown was among this group, completing the 200 meter in 29.22. Cruising through the 60 meter hurdles in 10.90, Inara Smith matched her finish.
Clearing a height of 4’9”, Makenna Witham secured another sixth place finish from the high jump. The sophomore later took eighth place in the 200 meter in a time of 29.56.
Rounding out the squad’s top eight finishes, Mason finished in eighth place with a time of 15:42.82 in the 3200 meter.
