UPDATE

11/9/23

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis arrested two men on Thursday, Nov. 9 in relation to their investigation of a man found dead in Collinsville.

Carlos G. Mosley, 23 and Amari O. McGee, 22 both from Belleville were charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, a Class M felony connection with the death of Tyrese L. Owens, 21 of Collinsville. The Honorable Judge Timothy Berkley signed the arrest warrant and ordered both defendants remanded to the Madison County Jail for initial appearance.

Due to the fact that the case is still under investigation officers couldn’t release too much information, but Lt. Mark Kuechle did say the defendants and the victim knew each other and that it wasn’t a random incident.

“The Major Case Squad will continue the investigation through today, then the Collinsville Police Department will reassume the investigation,” Kuechle stated in an email.

Owens, 21, of 519 Loop Street in Collinsville on Wednesday, Nov. 8 was found unresponsive by neighbors in the area of 521 Loop Street at approximately 10:40 a.m. Police said Owens suffered a laceration to his torso. He was later pronounced dead on the scene by the Madison County Coroner.

The Major Case Squad is continuing to investigate this case.  Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Major Case Squad at 618-344-2131 (x5300).
