Marine Board Approves 4.99% Tax Levy

MARINE — The Marine Village Board had a short meeting on November 20.
There were no public comments and the discussions were swift. The only item voted on was approving the 2024 tax levy at 4.99%.
The new ordinances about barking dogs and junk vehicles have been received from the lawyer.
AT&T approached the village to sign another letter guaranteeing that if they install fiber cables in the village a minimum number of residents sign up. Mayor Kelly Tracy said absolutely not, that the responsibility is on them to do a survey either on Facebook or by going door to door or coming and talking during a village board meeting.
All pumps and the transfer switch are working at the lift stations. The renewal to service the generator was approved for $325 for the next two years.
On the south end of town, a new plastic pipe was installed, but during one of the last heavy rains it floated up out of the ground so public works is discussing whether or not it should be covered with two or three feet of gravel. The village will also be buying new plastic culverts to install in the same area in the near future.
Over $500 has been donated to Christmas in the park. A note was put in the donation requests that extra money would go towards painting the tank at the park. 20 people helped Little Rae of Sunshine decorate for Christmas and several volunteers requested to be involved in doing other volunteer work throughout the year.
The next meeting will be December 4 at 7 pm in Village Hall.
