Juvenile detained on charge of possession of machine gun

EDWARDSVILLE — Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine announced today that a juvenile has been detained on a charge of possession of a machine gun.

The juvenile, a 16-year-old male from East St. Louis, is charged in a Delinquency Petition with possession of a machine gun. The charge alleges that, on Jan. 11 in the area of State Street and Market Street in Granite City, the juvenile possessed a handgun that was modified with a device that made it capable of automatically firing more than one shot by a single function of the trigger.

The case was investigated by Granite City Police Department.
